Another round of back surgery...

The kids had another round of back surgery on January 11th. Things went really well...Rylie went back first and flew right through. She was ecstatic when the nurses got her IV in on the first try. It's not uncommon for it to take 3-4 tries. Also...while the kids were getting ready...around the corner popped one of our favorite nurses from Logan Regional (Nurse Chris). She had moved down to SLC about a year ago and we new she worked in the OR...but the chances of seeing her was very slim. She has cared for the kids since they were little. Nurse Chris has been by Rylie's side multiple times when she was either coding or being life flighted to Primary Children's. They have a pretty close bond and it was soooo awesome to see her. She went back with Rylie and stayed with her until she fell asleep. Then "Nurse Chris" slipped out to visit with Bryson. So fun to see her. Bryson went back after Rylie was done. He did really good other then intubating him is a real challenge...but the docs eventually got it. Bryson is a lot like his dad in that they both love the sleep meds a little too much. Bryson just wanted to sleep and sleep and sleep! After a few hours they were both somewhat awake so we started our trip back home. This was the first time we were able to take both home same day. It seems like either one or the other has always had to stay over night (usually Rylie)...so this was a real treat. They have both recovered well and by the end of the week, back to school they went. It's nice to have it over with...until another 6 months goes by...

December Updates

I can't believe December is over... I feel as if I've ran my own marathon this month from sick kids, to a husband having shoulder surgery, then of course getting ready for the holidays. Now looking back, I can honestly say it's been one of the best months regardless. I love this time of year... the air is full of love and kindness, service being rendered everywhere and families are enjoying each others company. What more could you ask for?

December started off with my not so little guy turning 11. Where does the time go. It feels like yesterday I was holding this 5# 1 oz. new baby in my arms...then waking up the next day to a big 11 year old. WOW!!! Bryson has been such a joy in our family. He's such an awesome kid. He just makes me smile. I love that he is a little sports fanatic...he's got a talent for keeping up with the stats. I love how he cares so much for his little sister... he's always checking up on her and very concerned whenever she's sick. I will always cherish our cuddle times...that is my favorite time of day. Bryson... I am so proud of you! Love you Bud!!! (see slide in previous post of "looking back on Bryson")

Bryson also got to go to the Aggie Hockey game with his dad and grandpa. They had a great time!

Rylie participated in another great Tavaci concert. She did such a good job. I love watching her come up with ways of doing the actions to the songs. Sometimes it may be as little as just bopping her head...

Then came the holidays....it was filled with lots of family time...playing the Wii, watching movies and just sitting around visiting. It was such a fun week. My brother and family came up from Colorado and my sister and family from Star Valley. The kids played until they dropped then wanted to play some more. New Years Eve they all had a big sleepover at grandma and grandpa's. Good times!!!

Christmas morning traditions...Everyone gets together for a big brunch cooked by the guys. Yummy Yummy!!!

Then came New Years Eve... We all danced into the new year. I think we were all sick by the end of the night from laughing so hard!!!

Wishing everyone a Wonderful New Year filled with love, happiness and joy from serving others. Also may you all cherish your families and the time you get to spend with them!!!
